IPL -13 के पहले मैच में यह टीम दिल्ली कैपिटल्स से हार गई थी, लेकिन पंजाब की टीम ने यह मैच जीतकर साबित कर दिया कि वह भी किसी से कम नहीं है। पंजाब (KXIP) की टीम ने अच्छी शुरुआत की थी लेकिन बीच में टीम थोड़ी लड़खड़ाई किंतु एक छोर पर जांबाज खिलाड़ी राहुल डटा रहें, 15 ओवर मैं उनके 3 विकेट गिर चुके थे और महज 128 रन ही बने थे।लेकिन बब्बर शेर राहुल ने आखरी ओवर में बेंगलुरु टीम के गेंदबाजों की जमकर धुनाई की।

राहुल 90 रन बना चुके थे और अब उनका सामना डेल स्टेल से था लेकिन इस बहादुर खिलाड़ी ने उनका स्वागत सिक्स लगाकर किया। इस ओवर में राहुल ने 3 सिक्स और दो चौके लगाए। इस तरह इस ओवर में उन्होंने 26 रन बनाए।इसी ओवर में उन्होंने अपनी सेंचुरी लगा दी, पिछले IPL-13 में भी वह सेंचुरी लगाने में कामयाब रहे थे।
शिवम दुबे के 23 रनों की बदौलत यह टीम 207 रन तक पहुंच गई।
विराट कोहली का खराब प्रदर्शन रहा।
रॉयल चैलेंजर्स बैंगलोर (RCB) के कप्तान विराट कोहली का प्रदर्शन एक बार फिर ठीक नहीं रहा, इस मैच में विराट कोहली 1 रन से ज्यादा नहीं बना पाए उनके खराब प्रदर्शन का सिलसिला फील्डिंग में भी रहा। विराट के इस बुरे प्रदर्शन के कारण राहुल को दो बार जीवनदान मिल गया जिसका उन्होंने भरपूर फायदा उठाया। IPL-13 मैं रॉयल चैलेंजर्स बेंगलोर (RCB) के 3 खिलाड़ी केवल 4 रनों पर ही आउट हो गए थे।तेज गेंदबाज शेल्डन काटरेल ने दो विकेट लेकर 17 रन दिए और दूसरे गेंदबाज और स्पिनर रवि बिशनोई फिर गेंदबाज़ी मैं सफल रहे, उन्होंने 3 विकेट 32 रन पर ले लिए। मयंक अग्रवाल और राहुल ने ओपनिंग करते हुए अच्छी शुरुआत दिलाई दोनों ने दोनों पावर प्ले में 50 रन जोड़कर अच्छी शुरुआत करी लेकिन इनकी इस जोड़ी को यूज़वेंद्र चहल अपने पहले ओवर में ही तोड़ने सफल रहे। इस तरह पंजाब की टीम जीत गई और बैगलोर की टीम 97 रनों पर ही सिमट गई।
